OMEGA Launches The Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite

Since humanity’s historic Moon landing in 1969, the OMEGA Speedmaster has been inextricably linked to space exploration and the mysteries of the cosmos. Building on this celestial legacy, OMEGA introduces the new Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite—a remarkable timepiece that bridges the past and the future with its innovative design and extraordinary materials.

This stunning 43 mm collection offers two distinct stainless steel models, each crafted with two types of meteorite and powered by the pioneering OMEGA calibre. This movement masterfully displays lunar phases as observed from both the northern and southern hemispheres, offering wearers an authentic connection to the Moon’s ever-changing beauty.

The enchantment begins with the dial, meticulously crafted from iron meteorite. This ancient cosmic material features unique ribbon-like patterns, ensuring that no two watches are exactly alike. OMEGA elevates this design by finishing the meteorite dial with either a sleek black PVD coating or a sophisticated galvanic grey treatment, adding depth and character to the timepiece.

The highlight of the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite is its groundbreaking Moonphase display at the 6 o’clock position. This feature showcases two cabochon Moons, intricately sculpted from genuine Moon meteorite. These rotating Moons accurately depict lunar cycles visible from both hemispheres. Even more astonishing, the stars in the backdrop are arranged exactly as they appeared on the night of Apollo 11’s Moon landing in 1969—a tribute visible from OMEGA’s watchmaking headquarters in Bienne, Switzerland.

Functionality meets elegance with the watch’s additional features. At 3 o’clock, a subdial functions as a 60-minute and 12-hour recorder, while the 9 o’clock subdial offers a Small Seconds display paired with a date indicator highlighted by a red anodized aluminum hand.

Powering this marvel is OMEGA’s newly developed manual-winding Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 9914. Visible through the flat sapphire crystal caseback, this movement is anti-magnetic up to 15,000 gauss and certified for precision and performance by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS).

Each model boasts refined details:

The black PVD variant features a black meteorite dial with 18K white gold hands and hour markers, complemented by a black ceramic bezel with a white enamel tachymeter scale.

The galvanic grey version pairs a grey meteorite dial with a blue PVD base, a blue ceramic bezel, and white enamel tachymeter scale. Blue PVD-coated 18K gold hour markers and hands, along with 18K white gold subdial hands, complete the sophisticated look.

Both models are secured with a polished and brushed bracelet, enhanced by OMEGA’s patented comfort release adjustment system, ensuring a perfect fit.

With its fusion of cosmic materials, precise mechanics, and timeless design, the Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite continues OMEGA’s iconic Moon legacy, celebrating space exploration with every tick—day or night, in every corner of the Earth.
